About

 

Karsyn’s practice includes medical malpractice, catastrophic personal injury, sexual abuse claims, business and commercial litigation.

 

Before joining Gross & Rooney, Karsyn served as in-house counsel for the multinational Malouf Companies, where she managed an $845 million global risk and insurance portfolio and directed compliance, liability, and policy efforts for the enterprise. She also practiced with Siegfried & Jensen, representing clients in personal injury, workers’ compensation, and general negligence matters.

 

Beyond her legal practice, Karsyn has involved herself in nonprofit and public service initiatives through her work with the Elizabeth Smart Foundation, the Malouf Foundation, Harvard and MIT’s Broad Institute, the U.S. House of Representatives, and the Utah Governor’s Office. Her efforts have included supporting community members through the debt and eviction processes during the Covid-19 pandemic, coordinating humanitarian aid for Ukrainian refugees, advancing legislation to expand speech protections for sexual assault survivors, and developing public funding strategies that support causes she believes in.

 

Karsyn earned degrees in Law and Constitutional Studies and History from Utah State University, where she was recognized as one of the “Top 50 Most Influential Aggies” and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law, where she served as Student Body President, graduated on the Pro Bono Honor Roll, and was a recipient of the Class of 1949 Leadership Award. She is admitted to practice law in Utah and is a member of the Utah State Bar, Women Lawyers of Utah, and the University of Kansas Board of Governors. She has also maintained a lobbyist license in Utah for nearly a decade.

 

A native of West Point, Utah, Karsyn enjoys experience life with her family and two dogs, Sammi and Mac Millie.
